Countdown to Surgery

6 WEEKS

  • Call your Orthodontist and let his office know of the date of surgery and to check the braces and placement of surgical wires and hooks 

  • Agressive Oral Care:  Brushing, Flossing, Antigingivitis Mouth Rinse  3x/day

  • Start nasal salt water rinse 2x/day

  • Purchase Items needed before and after surgery

4 WEEKS

1. Appointment with Dr. Patel / Surgeon: ​

  • For Males, No facial hair at this appointment

  • 2D Photographs, 3D Photographs

  • 3D X-Rays (iCAT or CBCT)

  • Review Surgery and Hospital Details  

  • Review the Hospitalization and PostOp Care with the nurse

2. Appointment with Anesthesiologist  if needed

3. Appointment with Primary Care Physician - Clearance for General Anesthesia

4. Appointment for Dental Cleaning

3 WEEKS

No medications or herbal supplements that can increase the risk of bleeding during surgery.  Stop 3 weeks before.

Make sure that all brackets are secured to the teeth
