Procedure to correct the Open Bite

Upper Jaw Surgery
  1. Braces are put on first
  2. When the teeth are aligned, you are ready for jaw surgery
  3. Upper jaw surgery is done inside mouth without outside scars.
  4. A wedge of bone is removed from the back of the upper jaw.
  5. This allows the front of the upper jaw to come down to meet the lower teeth
  6. Titanium plates are used to hold the bone together until it heals.
  7. We never wire the jaw closed.
  8. We use dental elastics to guide the new bite.
  9. Braces are continued after surgery
