Procedure to correct the Open Bite
Upper Jaw Surgery
-
Braces are put on first
-
When the teeth are aligned, you are ready for jaw surgery
-
Upper jaw surgery is done inside mouth without outside scars.
-
A wedge of bone is removed from the back of the upper jaw.
-
This allows the front of the upper jaw to come down to meet the lower teeth
-
Titanium plates are used to hold the bone together until it heals.
-
We never wire the jaw closed.
-
We use dental elastics to guide the new bite.
-
Braces are continued after surgery
